"Owning a G65 AMG goes beyond status and wealth. It represents the absolute pinnacle of off-road performance. It is ready for rallying or a flat out top speed run on the open road."—Official description (Forza Horizon)[1]
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG - abbreviated as "M-B G 65" - is an all-wheel drive performance SUV by Mercedes-Benz.
It appears in Forza Horizon as part of the March Meguiar's Car Pack, and as standard in all subsequent main series titles except Forza Motorsport (2023).
Synopsis[]
Powered by a 603 hp (450 kW) engine, the G 65 AMG is the most powerful SUV ever made by AMG, the performance division of Mercedes-Benz. Compared to other modern SUVs, the G 65 AMG features traditional boxy styling and a body-on-frame chassis due to its platform being in production since 1979.
The G 65 AMG was introduced in 2012 to complement its V8 counterpart, the G 63 AMG. Due to its handmade production, it is one of the highest priced Mercedes-Benz cars to date.[2]
Drivetrain[]
Its highly capable 6.0 L (5,980 cc) twin-turbocharged M279 V12 engine produces 603 hp (450 kW) at 4300 to 5600 rpm and a staggering 737 ft·lb (1000 N·m) from 2300 to 4300 rpm of torque, making it more powerful than most high-performance SUVs.[3] It comes with a seven-speed paddle shift gearbox by ZF and is officially claimed to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 5.3 seconds. The G 65 reaches 100 mph (161 km/h) seven seconds later.
Platform[]
Due to a weight of 5688 lb (2580 kg), the G 65 AMG is one of the heaviest vehicles in the Forza series, making it almost as heavy as the long wheelbase Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged. In addition, its tall body gives it a high center of gravity and poor aerodynamics, limiting top speed to 166 mph (267 km/h).[4]
