NIO is a Chinese car manufacturer featured in Forza Horizon 5 as part of Series 4 and in Forza Motorsport (2023).

Synopsis[]

NIO was founded as NextEV by William Li in November 2014 as an off-shoot of the NIO 333 FE Team, a Formula E team; in later years the team would be involved in name only.

Their first car, the EP9, was revealed on the same day as the company. The EP9 was well received and set numerous records at race tracks around the world.[1] NIO began mass market manufacturing of automobiles in 2018.

The race team was founded in 2013 - initially as China Racing - the team won the initial drivers' championship in Formula E with ex-Formula One and NASCAR driver Nelson Piquet Jr., although due to a revolving door of drivers filling the second seat of the team, China Racing finished fourth in the teams' championship.

Over the next few years, the team went through a number of name changes before the team was sold off to Lisheng Racing, which rebranded it as the NIO 333 FE Team, although the team's performance remained poor, often finishing at or near the bottom of the standings.

NIO ended their involvement with the NIO 333 FE Team in October 2023, with the team rebranding to ERT Racing.
