Napier is a car manufacturer from the United Kingdom that appears in Forza Horizon 4 as part of Series 20, and Forza Horizon 5.
Synopsis[]
D. Napier & Son was founded by David Napier in 1808 in London, England. The company initially designed precision engineering equipment; producing machinery for the financial, print, and munitions industries. Napier eventually began to branch out to other sectors, such as automobiles and engines of all sorts.
The automobile sector of D. Napier & Son was set up by Montague Napier, a grandson of David Napier, and lead the company to produce its first car in 1900: a Mulliner body and an engine of Napier's own design.
In 1903, the company expanded into marine engines, launches, and eventually - around the time of World War I - branched out into the manufacture of aircraft engines. This culminated with the design of the W12 "Lion" engine, considered the most powerful of its day, with its production long after designs of its time had been superseded, and was fitted into numerous speed record setting cars, such as the Napier-Railton. Napier was also involved in racing until 1908 and produced its last few vehicles in 1931.
During World War II, the company was acquired by English Electric, and the only sector of the company remaining into the 21st century is Napier Turbochargers, which produces turbochargers for the industrial market.
