The 1999 Nissan #23 NISMO Clarion R391 - abbreviated as "Nissan #23 R391" - is a prototype race car by Nissan.
It appears in Forza Motorsport (2023) as part of the Car Pass.
Synopsis[]
The R391 is a sports prototype designed by Nissan's motorsport division Nismo for the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was a replacement for the R390 GT1, which became unable to compete after major rule changes in the GT category in 1999.
At the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans, Nissan entered two R391s, one of which crashed during the first qualifying session while the other climbed the field up to 4th place before retiring after seven hours due to an electrical problem.
Later, in the 1999 Le Mans Fuji 1000km held in Japan, Nissan achieved a win with the R391, which had competition from Toyota's GT-ONE, and had automatic entry for the following year's 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, Nissan turned down the entry, ending the R391 project.
Powered by a Nissan VRH50A 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine and paired to an NPTI 6-speed sequential transmission, the R391 delivers over 600 hp (447 kW) and 456 ft·lb (618 N·m) of torque.[1]
