"Travel back to the late 80s and witness how fast orders for the 1989 Nissan Pao were made; they sold out in just three months with 51,667 applications for the unit. Taking a closer look at this car will reveal inspiration taken from other car makers of the time, all put together into one practical package built to be as appealing as Japanese personal electronic devices. Everything about this car evokes inexplicable appeal: the way the windows open, the optional sunroof, and the four delightful colors it came in are all part of what makes this tribute to retro cars a wonderful JDM to add to your collection!"—Official description[1]
The 1989 Nissan Pao - abbreviated as "Nissan PAO '89" - is a front-wheel drive retro convertible car by Nissan.
It appears in Forza Horizon 5 as part of the Nissan Retro Rides Car Pack, which debuted in Series 46.
Synopsis[]
Unveiled at the 1987 Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan Pao is a three-door hatchback and was the second "Pike Car" in the series, which features the Nissan Be-1, Nissan S-Cargo and Nissan Figaro[2].
Being part of the "Pike Car" series, the Pao was designed to be a fashionable city car with retro-inspired styling. Its styling took inspiration from cars like the Austin Mini, with its external door handles; the Citroën 2CV, with its 'flap-up' windows and Woodie car body styles, with its side strakes. The car features and optional sunroof, which is shown in the Forza series.
The Pao is powered by First generation Nissan Micra's 1.0L I4 that produces 51 hp (38 kW) and 55 ft·lb (75 N·m) coupled to a 3-speed automatic transmission, with a 5-speed manual transmission being optional. Struts are employed up front and a four-link coil suspension system in the rear. Steering is rack and pinion, and the front brakes are ventilated disks while the rear are drum brakes.
31,352 units of the Pao were produced for the Japanese market from 1989-1991[3].
