The 2000 Nissan Silvia Spec-R is a rear-wheel drive sports car that has appeared in every main title of the Forza series since Forza Motorsport.
The Spec-R is the highest model designation of the S15 Silvia, the last model generation of sports cars based on Nissan's S platform. Similar to the previous top-of-the-line S14 model, the Spec-R was equipped with several aerodynamic upgrades and powered by a two litre turbocharged engine.
The S15 Silvia was produced from 1999 to 2002 and only available in Australasia.
Description
"Driving this JDM masterpiece can be a transformative experience. With enough power to conquer any road it encounters and the kind of sleek lines normally reserved for chorus line girls, the Silvia turns heads wherever it goes."—Forzamotorsport.net[1]
Characteristics
The Silvia Spec-R reuses the SR20DET codenamed turbocharged engine from previous Silvia model generations, but with a power increase to 250 hp (186 kW). It is also shorter and lighter than its predecessor, the Nissan Silvia K's Aero, as evident by having 40 lb (18 kg) less weight. In addition, the Spec-R is based on a more balanced chassis due to having only 51% of its weight on its front axle. The manual transmission of previous models was replaced by a six-speed version.
Special Variants
Top Secret Silvia D1-Spec S15
The Nissan Top Secret Silvia D1-Spec S15 is a pre-tuned car based on the S15 Silvia that appears in Forza Motorsport 2, Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Motorsport 4. It is a heavily modified car tuned by Japanese tuning company Top Secret for the D1 Grand Prix drifting series.
Horizon Edition
The Horizon Edition is a special variant that appears as a Horizon Wheelspin reward in Forza Horizon 3. It features a drifting skill boost and various performance upgrades, most notably a 2.6 litre twin turbo engine swap from the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II and a Rocket Bunny widebody kit. As a result, it has its performance upgraded to Class A but can be upgraded further to the top of Class S1 (900) with a preset.
The Horizon Edition was obtainable as a Horizon Wheelspin reward prior to the October 14, 2016 update. It was made obtainable as a reward for completing the Sushi Roll challenge during the Spring Festival Forzathon event held from March 24, 2017 to March 27, 2017, and will be available as a reward again in the Heel-Toe Shifting Forzathon event held from September 8, 2017 to September 15, 2017 for completing the Coming Through challenge.

Performance
The Silvia Spec-R is a nimble sports car that allows players to pass corners quickly with little efforts, although it does have a small chance of oversteer, which can be easily counteracted by players. Its engine works most effectively at high rpms as it only produces (203 ft·lb (275 N·m)) of torque, which can affect acceleration on uphill roads.
In Forza Horizon 3, the Horizon Edition variant with the S1 class upgrade preset offers 748 hp (558 kW) and 565 ft·lb (766 N·m) of torque. The Horizon Edition combines its high power output with a decent handling tune, allowing it to drift at sharp angles and regain speed quickly with little difficulties. It also performs well in grip-based race events but requires good throttle management skills to be mastered.
Trivia
- The engine from the Silvia Spec-R can be fitted onto various cars including the 1993 Nissan 240SX in various Forza titles.
- The Silvia Spec-R is featured with an incorrect torque specification in the Forza series, as it has 225 ft·lb (305 N·m) of torque in real life.[2]
