"The Opel Kadett was the result of a partnership between General Motors and Opel, with the goal of making a world car that could compete with the Volkswagen Beetle. The design was intended to be appealing to anyone from Argentina to New Zealand. It was produced all around the world and sold more than 3.3 million units. The Kadett C GT/E model was the top of the line of what was otherwise an average family car. The GT/E came with a 1.9-liter fuel-injected engine, uprated anti-roll bars, as well a host of sporty cosmetic features. Choice options were a five-speed and limited-slip differential. Street performance was exciting, and the slogan “The rally specialist for all days” gave the Kadett a racy attitude that it is happy to express among its competition on the track."—Official description[1]
The 1979 Opel Kadett C GT/E - abbreviated as "Opel Kadett '79" - is a rear-wheel drive sport compact by Opel.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 6 as part of the Polo Red Car Pack and all subsequent Motorsport series titles, as well as Forza Horizon 3.
Synopsis[]
The Kadett C GT/E debuted in 1975 as the hot hatch model of the Opel Kadett C, predating the Volkswagen Golf GTI by one year.
Due to strong sales of the Golf GTI and its superior performance, the GT/E was updated in 1977 with a two liter engine with 114 hp (85 kW),[2] allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in less than nine seconds.
In 1979, the entire Kadett C range was discontinued and replaced by the Kadett D.
