The Performance Index - abbreviated as P.I. or PI - is a car performance measuring system featured in Forza Motorsport 2 and all subsequent titles.
Factors[]
The Performance Index evaluates five performance factors scored from 3.0 to 10.0 and assigns a car an alphanumeric performance class starting from 0 and capping at 999 or 1000. Classes group similar cars together, allowing race events to permit entry to certain cars to enable a competitive environment.
- Speed evaluates top speed determined by engine performance and transmission gearing.
- Handling evaluates maximum cornering speeds determined by lateral G force values at 60 mph (97 km/h) and 120 mph (193 km/h).
- Acceleration evaluates acceleration to top speed determined by 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) and 100 mph (161 km/h) times.
- Launch evaluates acceleration from a standstill determined by 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) and 100 mph (161 km/h) times.
- Braking evaluates braking distances determined by braking distances required for 60 mph (97 km/h) and 100 mph (161 km/h) to 0.
- Class evaluates overall performance determined by a car's lap time on a simulated test track.[1]
