The Player is the protagonist and player character of the Forza Horizon series.

In most of the Horizon games, the player is an up-and-coming racer who is new to the Horizon Festival and looking to become the Festival Champion. However, in Forza Horizon 3, they are the festival's director who has Keira Harrison manage the festival's events, which the player competes in themselves.

Appearance[]

The player's character model varies between the games. In Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 2, they are an unnamed, relatively nondescript, Caucasian male with short black hair and stubbly facial hair.

In Forza Horizon 3, Forza Horizon 4, and Forza Horizon 5, they can appear as a number of different male or female character models of various skin tones and other details. Forza Horizon 4 also allows them to change their clothing, Forza Horizon 5 allowing for deeper customisation with voice, pronoun, hair, hair colour, and prosthetic limb options.

Name[]

They are referred to by a wide variety of names. These names are mostly various common male and female given names, with a number of nicknames also available for them to choose from.

If the real player has provided their real name on Xbox Live, the game will automatically highlight their given name in the list of options available, if possible, although the game will still let players change their character's in-game name if they want to.

Trivia[]

  • The Player didn't have a voice until Forza Horizon 4.
  • In the Forza Horizon 5 end credits, the Player is also credited as “Pioneer M/F” and “Frankie M/F” for the non-English cast. This is because, in some localized dubs, these were the internal developer codenames for the player’s voice options, and the localization teams kept the original labels instead of renaming them to “Player”.[citation needed]
