"In 1987, domestic automakers were still trying to recover from the darkest depths of the Dark Ages of Horsepower, and performance numbers were only beginning to climb back to acceptable levels. The third-generation Pontiac Firebird GTA was a step in the right direction, using a variant of the Corvette’s L98 5.7-liter small block featuring tuned-port fuel injection, gaining back power while meeting emissions standards in the process. The only substantive difference between the Corvette and the GTA is that the Firebird uses iron heads, making it nominally heavier. The horsepower figure isn’t as impressive on its own, but the L98 produces copious amounts of torque: 315 ft-lbs. at 3,200 RPM, which gives this Firebird the kind of seat-of-the-pants thrust that muscle cars have been historically known for. The motor isn’t the only goodie the GTA enjoys; this Firebird comes fully equipped with a body-colored aero kit, gold cross-lace pattern alloys, and the highly competent WS6 high-performance suspension option. Thankfully, though, the GTA does without the huge hood graphics of Firebirds of yore, instead opting for a more subtle look as the flagship Pontiac."—Description[1]
The 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA - abbreviated as "Pontiac T/A '87" - is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car by Pontiac.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 4 and in all subsequent main series titles, except for Forza Horizon.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 5 as part of the LaFerrari Car Pack.
Synopsis[]
The Trans Am GTA (Gran Turismo Americano) was the flagship model of the third generation Firebird, which was redesigned for better handling and fuel economy.
In contrast to previous models such as the 1977 Trans Am, its styling lacked any flamboyant graphics in order to resemble the subtlety of the SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft. To distinguish it further from regular models, it was fitted with "Ultima" seats and the V8 engine from the Chevrolet Corvette.[2]
It was offered from model year 1987 to 1992, and replaced by the fourth generation Firebird in 1993.
Variants[]

Forza Edition (MK. II)[]
The Forza Edition is a pre-tuned variant featured in Forza Horizon 5. It features a white paint job, an S1 900 Performance Index, and a Drift Skills boost.
It is primarily unlockable as a Wheelspin reward, but has also been made available in the Forzathon Shop and as an Accolade reward.
