Synopsis[]
The Porsche 924 GTP Le Mans is a race car designed to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, being based on the Porsche 924 production car. It only raced for the 1981 season.
The 924 GTP Le Mans was an upgrade over the 1980 924 Carrera GTR, which was entered in the 1980 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the top car finishing 6th place. The GTP featured an upgraded engine over the GTR, a 2.5-liter Turbocharged I4 producing 420 hp (313 kW) over the GTR's 2.0-liter I4 producing 375 hp (280 kW).
One of the two examples of the 924 GTP Le Mans were entered in the 1981 24 hours of Le Mans, where it finished 7th place and spent the least overall time in the pits.[1] However, in 1982 Porsche ceased the racing and production of the 924 GTP Le Mans, wanting to focus more on the Group C class.[2]
