"Achieving the title of “most successful racecar of all time” didn’t come easy. Even for Porsche, overcoming rule changes and remaining competitive was a tall order. The 962 is, in fact, only a slightly longer 956, lengthened to accommodate FISA rules requiring the driver’s feet to be aft of the front-axle centerline. For 1987, Porsche brought in a more reliable and powerful 3.0-liter, six-cylinder, water-cooled, twin-turbo motor which boosted the car to 41 wins in the World Sportscar Championship and six victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s no surprise the 962 achieved as many championships as it did, given its 710bhp and well-behaved drivability. Several carmakers went on to produce a limited number of street legal versions, but more than likely the only seat time you will see is here in Forza."
—Official description[1]

The 1987-1988 Porsche 962C - previously referred to as "Porsche 962c" - is a sports prototype by Porsche.

It appears in Forza Motorsport (2005) and all Xbox 360 Motorsport series titles.

It returns in Forza Motorsport 6 as part of the Porsche Expansion Pack and appears in all subsequent Motorsport series titles.

It also appears in the Porsche Expansion Pack add-on for Forza Motorsport 4.

Synopsis[]

The 962c is an extended wheelbase model of the 956, both of which competed in the Group C prototype category with great success.[2] With a top speed of 245 mph (394 km/h),[3] the 962c is one of the fastest racing cars ever made.

Trivia[]

  • The 1987 #17 Porsche AG variant of the 962C is censored, with "Racing" taking place of "Rothmans", due to the fact that said sponsor is a tobacco brand. In Forza Motorsport 4, however, it features the accurate "Rothmans" sponsoring. Starting with Forza Motorsport 6 and onwards, it has reverted back to "Racing".
  • In Forza Motorsport (2023), prior to Update 21, it was valued at 374,000 CR.
