"There is nothing entry-level about the Cayman GTS, except, possibly, where Porsche places it in its lineup. Performance numbers put the Cayman GTS right alongside a base 911 Carrera, so when you look at it from the perspective of what car you are getting for your money, it really just comes down to where you want the engine. The Cayman is of course a mid-engine design that eliminates the back seat while providing improved weight balance. The 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS, abbreviated as Cayman GTS '15 or Porsche Cayman, is a mid-engined sports car by Porsche featured in the Porsche Expansion add-ons for Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 6, and as standard in all subsequent titles except for Forza Motorsport 7.
It also appeared in two Forzathon events in Forza Horizon 3; Horizon Cares held in June 2017 and Spring Is Back held in April 2018. It returned in Forza Horizon 4 as a reward for reaching level 8 in the Road Racing Series of Horizon Life.
Synopsis
Similar to the Porsche 911 and other Porsche cars, the Cayman series was offered as a GTS model which features additional equipment and better performance over base and S models. With an engine upgraded to 340 hp (254 kW), the GTS can reach 177 mph (285 km/h) as top speed.
The Cayman GTS was first released in 2014 for the third generation Cayman, and was reintroduced in 2018 as the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS that is based on the fourth model generation.
It has a mid-mounted 3.4 litre flat-six engine with direct injection that delivers 340 hp (254 kW) at 7400 rpm and 280 ft·lb (380 N·m) of torque at 4750 to 5800 rpm. It is equipped with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission that offers quicker shifting times than previous generation models.
It weighs 2965 lb (1345 kg) thanks in part to a light monocoque chassis utilising aluminum and steel. Having a mid-ship located engine, the GTS has a weight distribution of (46/54)%, giving it a more neutral weight distribution than most rear-engined Porsche 911 models. It also has a rear wing that will be deployed when driving at least 75 mph (120 km/h).
Performance
The Cayman GTS has decent acceleration, requiring 4.3 seconds when launching from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) and less than ten seconds from 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h). With a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h), it is one of the fastest European Sports Cars class vehicles in Forza Horizon 3.
The Cayman GTS has strong handling characteristics enabled by a snappy steering and balanced chassis, allowing the car to attack corners at high speeds with ease. Although steering is slightly more responsive on more rear-biased cars such as the 2012 Lotus Exige S, the Cayman GTS is also signficantly less prone to oversteer due to having more weight at the front.
