Rover is a British car manufacturer featured in Forza Horizon 4 since the Series 19 update.

Synopsis[]

Rover was a British Leyland marque, a British automotive conglomerate that was renamed to Rover Group in 1986. In 1994, a major stake of the Rover Group was purchased by BMW, who sold the company in 2000 after suffering losses from the Rover Group. In the same year, Rover was merged with sister company MG to form the MG Rover Group, while Land Rover was sold to the Ford Motor Company.[1]

In 2005, the MG Rover Group became defunct, with key assets having been purchased by Chinese carmaker Nanjing Automobile. SAIC Motor, the parent company of Nanjing Automobile, relaunched the Rover brand as Roewe in 2006, as the name rights to the Rover brand were still kept by BMW. The Rover name was sold to Ford in 2006, and then sold again to Indian carmaker Tata Motors in 2008, who also bought two former British Leyland companies from Ford - Jaguar and Land Rover.[2]

Some of Rover's landmark production cars include the Rover SD1 Vitesse, Rover 75 and the Rover P series.
