Schuppan is a British car manufacturer featured in Forza Horizon 5.
Synopsis[]
Vern Schuppan Ltd. was a short-lived British car manufacturer set up in 1987 by Vern Schuppan, an Australian racing driver who competed in numerous categories from Formula One to sportscars.
Based in Buckinghamshire, England, the company served as an offshoot of sorts to Schuppan's racing team: Team Schuppan. In 1991, Schuppan designed their first car, the 962CR, a street-legal derivative of the Porsche 962s which Schuppan famously drove.
Largely based on the 962 and using an essentially identical engine, the 962CR was easily one of the most expensive cars sold when new in the 1990s, at well over USD 1.5 million; this was not helped by the car using a Reynard-constructed full-carbon fiber monocoque and titanium fasteners, making the car equally expensive to produce.
Despite development being financed by Japanese backers of Schuppan's race team, with customers failing to pay for ordered cars, the car's extremely high production cost and an economic crisis, Schuppan lost so much money from the venture it ultimately caused him to declare bankruptcy, effectively closing the company. Only six 962CRs were produced before the company shut down.
