"Marketed as “the fastest streetcar in the world,” the 427 S/C—Semi-Competition -- is the most desirable of all the Shelby Cobra variants. Out of the 100 that were planned only 53 were built. They are nothing less than a purpose-built race car converted at the last minute for street use."—Official description[1]
The 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C - abbreviated as "Shelby Cobra 427" - is a rear-wheel drive roadster by Shelby.
It appears in Forza Motorsport (2005) and all subsequent main series titles.
It is featured in Forza Motorsport 5 as part of the VIP Car Pack.
Synopsis[]
The Cobra 427 S/C is the top model of the Shelby Cobra, a high-performance roadster based on the British-made AC Ace, and powered by a big block Ford V8 engine.
The 1965 model received a 427 cubic inch (7 liter) V8 engine with 425 hp (317 kW), allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in only 4.3 seconds. It was also redesigned with a fully independent suspension by Ford GT40 engineer Klaus Arning to rectify handling problems from previous models.[2]
The S/C (Semi-Competition) is the ultimate incarnation of the Cobra that was originally intended for FIA homologation, but converted for road use after Shelby failed to comply with production targets set by the FIA.[3]
