"Every once in a long while the dream of creating a dream car comes to life. Such is the case with the GTA Spano, a 230mph-capable supercar. Powered by a twin-turbo, intercooled and slightly bored out Viper V10, it has the guts to get the job done and the form to not only catch the eye, but convert air into grip-amplifying downforce. Spanish automaker Spania GTA has built the GTA Spano from the most rigid materials on Earth, and the way it responds to the contours of the road or the lack thereof is entirely unique. What else would you expect from a company that built something out of pure passion for driving?"—Official description[1]
The 2016 Spania GTA Spano - abbreviated as GTA Spano '16 or GTA Spano - is a RWD hypercar featured in Forza Horizon 3 as part of the The Smoking Tire Car Pack, and as standard in all subsequent titles.
Synopsis
The second-generation GTA Spano is a mechanically and visually updated version of the first-generation GTA Spano introduced in 2013.
The second-generation GTA Spano sports an updated exterior, now this time using butterfly doors and a new active rear wing that deploys at speeds above 60 mph (97 km/h) and folds up to improve braking performance if the brakes are applied. At 186 mph (300 km/h) and above, the rear wing retracts to facilitate high-speed driving.
Mounted in the middle of the car behind the passenger compartment is a bored out variant of the Dodge Viper's V10 engine, displacing 8.0 L (7,990 cc), producing 912 hp (680 kW) and 900 ft·lb (1220 N·m), and equipped with twin-turbochargers and an intercooler. A seven-speed CIMA sequential transmission is used to send power to the rear wheels.
The Spano weighs 3197 lb (1450 kg), yielding a power-to-weight ratio of 629 hp (469 kW) per tonne.
Performance
With its high-power engine, the second-generation Spano is capable of acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.9 seconds and 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in 5.2 seconds, rivaling the likes of the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, McLaren P1, and Radical RXC Turbo. The Spano also reaches top speeds exceeding 236 mph (380 km/h) in each Forza appearance.
The GTA Spano is a high-powered supercar that incorporates performance traits typical of hypercars, such as a top speed of 238 mph (383 km/h) and strong acceleration off the line with minimal to moderate wheelspin. Acceleration is also another performance paramount of the car, with 100 mph (161 km/h) reached in 5.2 seconds, which usually can only be accomplished by some of the fastest hypercars in the series.
Cornering, however, is more typical of a low-end hypercar, which requires some early turn-in beforehand, and braking is very efficient. In Forza Motorsport 7, the Spano performs noticeably better in terms of speed, handling, and braking, the former being a top speed of 245 mph (394 km/h).
Variants
Duracell Edition
Upon the release of the Duracell Car Pack for Forza Horizon 3, a version of the Spania GTA Spano with a Duracell livery, the Spania GTA Spano Duracell Edition, was released as a free download.[2]
