"Developed at the request of the president of Subaru of America, the BRAT (Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter) followed the trend set by the Chevy El Camino and Ford Ranchero as half-truck, half-car. On paper, and due to the rear-facing bed-mounted jumpseats, the BRAT was technically a car, which got Subaru out of an excessive light truck tariff versus that of passenger cars imported from Japan. Underneath its coupe-utility body is the heart of the Subaru Leone station wagon. Under the hood is the Subaru EA flat-four and in the GL model represented here, a dual-range four-wheel drive system. Although humble in power output, the BRAT, like any Subaru, is meant to go places the average car wouldn’t dare."—Official description[1]
The 1980 Subaru BRAT GL is an all-wheel drive utility vehicle by Subaru.
It appears in Forza Horizon 2 as part of the G-Shock Car Pack, and in all subsequent main series titles except for Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport (2023).
It appears in Forza Horizon 5 as part of Series 18.
Synopsis[]
The BRAT is a coupé utility car based on the second generation Leone, the predecessor to the Impreza. It was available as standard with a permanent four-wheel drive system, which would later become a defining trait of modern Subaru vehicles.
It features small body dimensions and only weighs 2061 lb (935 kg) whilst also utilising a four-wheel drive system. It is powered by a carbureted 1.6 litre flat-four engine with 69 hp (51 kW) and 84 ft·lb (114 N·m) of torque that is mated to a four-speed manual transmission.
Performance[]
Upgraded[]
The Horizon Edition in Forza Horizon 3 with the A class upgrade preset applied has quick launch and acceleration, but has to deal with slightly sluggish steering. On offroad tracks, it is able to maintain its advantage in straight-line performance and can executive drifts using the handbrake fairly well.
Variants[]
Horizon Edition[]
The Horizon Edition is an upgraded variant in Forza Horizon 3 featuring an XP boost and stock Performance Index raised to C 522. It comes with an A 800 upgrade preset that includes a 2.5L F4 - Turbo engine swap, as well as a manufacturer design.
It was unlockable as a Horizon Wheelspin prize before the October 14, 2016 update and as a reward in various Forzathon events.
Forza Edition[]
The Forza Edition is an upgraded variant in Forza Motorsport 7 featuring a 25% credits boost that is doubled for racing in Wet conditions, and a C 500 upgrade preset.
