"The 2005 WRX Sti [sic] saw minor interior upgrades over the 2004 version. It is powered by the turbocharged and intercooled 2.5-liter [sic] flat-four that cranks out more than 300 horsepower [sic]. Subaru’s invincible all-wheel drive system provides grippy traction on any surface."—Official description[1]
The 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi is an AWD sport compact by Subaru featured in Forza Motorsport 2 and all subsequent main series titles.
It was available in Forza Horizon as part of the Rally Expansion Pack and purchaseable as a Specialty Dealer car in Forza Motorsport 7.
Synopsis
Also known as the 'hawk eye', the 2005 WRX STi is the final facelift variant of the second generation Subaru WRX STi, replacing the 2004 'blob eye' facelift variant. Penned by former Alfa Romeo designer Zapatinas, the 2005 Impreza was one of Subaru's first models with the 'jet and wings' corporate front design.[2]
The final facelift WRX STi ran production until 2007 and was replaced by the WRX STI hatchback in 2008.
Powered by the two liter turbocharged EJ20 flat-four engine from previous models instead of the 2.5 liter EJ25 variant from some of its export market variants, the 2005 WRX STi appears as the Japanese specification model in the Forza series.
Compared to the 2004 model, the EJ20 from the 2005 model has improved specifications that are 295 hp (220 kW) and 311 ft·lb (422 N·m) of torque, although it has 280 hp (209 kW) in real life as the Japanese market model. Moreover, due to a weight figure of 3515 lb (1594 kg), which is 3315 lb (1504 kg) in the Horizon series, the 2005 WRX STi also weighs more in the Forza series than it does in real life.[3]
Despite its high weight relative to other WRX STI models, which actually makes it the heaviest car of its model family, the 2005 WRX STi still beats each car of its model family in every field of benchmark tests, although it is closely matched with the 2004 model.
