Synopsis[]
Talbot is a defunct manufacturer originally founded in Great Britain to sell Clément-Bayard cars imported from France on British soil.
The company was renamed to Talbot-Lago in 1935 following an acquisition by Rootes Group. It changed ownership again to various car brands throughout its history that include Simca in 1958, Chrysler in 1967 and Peugeot in 1978, before being discontinued in 1994.
Due to its varied history, Talbot was specialized in a multitude of automobile types, ranging from Chrysler Europe economy cars to prestigious Talbot-Lago sports cars. It also participated in Formula One and the World Rally Championship, where it gained the manufacturer's title in 1981 with the Sunbeam Lotus.[1]
