"Running on sheer force of vigor and with a willingness to take you from point A to point B in the least number of seconds possible, the 2021 Toyota GR Yaris is taking its shot as your new favorite hot hatch. The GR is quite hot, actually: a daredevilish four-wheel drive system to make quick work of corners, a very eager 2.1-liter turbocharged engine that puts out 257 bhp, and a six-speed manual transmission to experience corner taking like a true champion built to smash the giants of the track. Drive around the Horizon Festival in the new benchmark for modern hatchbacks and create your own special build of the versatile vehicle."
—Official description[1]

The 2021 Toyota GR Yaris is a front-engine, all-wheel drive sport compact hatchback by Toyota.

It appears in Forza Horizon 5 as part of Series 35.

Synopsis[]

Unveiled at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon, the GR Yaris is a performance 3-door hatchback developed by Toyota with assistance from the company's Gazoo Racing (GR) motorsport division. It is part of the fourth-generation Toyota Yaris (XP210).

The GR Yaris was designed to meet World Rally Championship (WRC) homologation rules, as the regular Yaris had a 5-door bodywork and posed a problem for Toyota's WRC team, as it would not be appropriate for competition. Required to produce at least 2,500 units in a continuous 12-month period, the Gazoo Racing WRT team, led by 4-time WRC champion Tommi Mäkinen, built several prototypes based on heavily modified Yaris vehicles, with the GR Yaris put to test on street, snow and gravel surfaces.[2]

The GR Yaris features a "GR-FOUR" all-wheel drive system instead of front-wheel drive, a wider rear track and double wishbone suspension, as well as lightweight aluminium and carbon fiber-reinforced polymer parts. Its design was a combination between the front end platform of the XP210 Yaris with the rear end platform of the E210 Corolla.

Powered by a G16E 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-three engine, and paired to an iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) 6-speed manual transmission, the GR Yaris has an output of 257 hp (192 kW) and a maximum torque of 272 ft·lb (369 N·m) of torque.

Performance[]

Toyota has claimed a 0 - 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration in less than 5.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h).[3]
