"One of the most unique hatchbacks ever built has come to the Horizon Festival. Not only will the 1991 Toyota Sera amaze you with its unique engine, but it will also do it with the remarkable style it was built with. You have probably never seen a hatch quite like this before. To start, the first impression you’ll probably get from this car will be made by its glass canopy rooftop; we can all agree it is not the norm for three-doored vehicles. Then, trying to pull on the doors won’t do you any good when getting in, as the Sera was fitted with butterfly-style doors. To complete the set of extravaganzas, you’ll be greeted by a 1.5 L engine; though those numbers might not impress you, this was the largest version of the 5E-FHE engine ever made."—Official description[1]
The 1991 Toyota Sera - abbreviated as "Toyota Sera '91" - is a front-wheel drive hatchback coupe by Toyota.
It appears in Forza Horizon 5 as part of the JDM Jewels Car Pack, which debuted in Series 36.
Synopsis[]
Unveiled at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show, the Toyota Sera is a 3-door 2+2 hatchback coupe manufactured from 1990 to 1996 exclusively to Japan. It is derived from the 1988 Toyota AXV-II concept car.
The Sera is known for its mostly glass roof canopy and its butterfly doors, which open forward and up, being the first mass produced vehicle with this type of car door. Besides featuring a single-piece glass rear hatch, which has a small trunk compartment inside, and projector headlights, it also shares the floorpan, suspension, steering and brakes from the Toyota Paseo and Toyota Starlet.
Its door arrangement was also considered by designer Gordon Murray to be an inspiration for the design and development of the McLaren F1.[2]
Powered by a 1.5-liter 5E-FHE four-cylinder engine paired to either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission, the Sera produces 108 hp (81 kW) and 97 ft·lb (132 N·m) of torque.
