"Villains hidden across the Horizon Festival, beware! A muscle car powered by justice and artificial intelligence has arrived. K.I.T.T also comes with a body kit (no pun intended) that allows it to activate Super Pursuit Mode!"
—Official description[1]

The 1982 Universal Studios K.I.T.T. - abbreviated as "K.I.T.T." - is a custom rear-wheel drive sports car by Universal Studios and based on the 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.

It appears in Forza Horizon 5 as part of the Universal Icons Car Pack, which debuted with Series 35.

Synopsis[]

The Universal Studios K.I.T.T. is a recreation of the car driven by supercomputer K.I.T.T. in the 1982-1986 TV series Knight Rider.

In the series, K.I.T.T. - an acronym for Knight Industries Two Thousand - is a "self-aware" artificially intelligent computer designed by eccentric billionaire Wilton Knight, founder of "Foundation for Law and Government" and its parent "Knight Industries". Knight saw an use of K.I.T.T.'s cybernetic microprocessor in the crime-fighting scene of the Foundation, installing the system into highly advanced vehicles, as it had faster reflexes than that of a human. One of these vehicles was the Knight 2000, a black T-top third generation Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.

With a primary function of preserving human life, particularly of its operator Michael Knight, K.I.T.T. is loaded with several features, such as the ability to think, learn, communicate and interact through a voice synthesizer, a front-mounted scanner bar made of fiber-optic electronic eyes, called the "Anamorphic Equalizer", that can see in all visual wavelengths, as well as X-ray and infrared, a medical scanner, a microwave jamming system that affects electronic machines and devices, a chemical analyzer, ejection seats, a nearly invincible armor plating, thermal-resistant coating, a grappling hook, as well as many others.[2]

K.I.T.T. is powered by a hydrogen-fueled turbojet engine paired to a computer controlled 8-speed turbo-drive transmission, which allows it to do a 0 - 60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration in 2 seconds. It also features a "turbo boost", a pair of rocket boosters that make K.I.T.T. accelerate to over 200 mph (322 km/h), as well as jump in the air.

In the first episode of Season Four, K.I.T.T. is nearly destroyed, being then redesigned with a new feature, the "Super-Pursuit Mode", that consisted of new rocket boosters for acceleration, retractable spoilers for aerodynamic stability, movable air inlets for cooling, an emergency braking system with a forward braking booster and retractable air panels to create air friction, as well as a top speed of over 300 mph (483 km/h).[3]

For Forza Horizon 5, a lot of its features and stats in the series are toned down, featuring a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 and a 6-speed transmission, delivering 495 hp (369 kW) and 470 ft·lb (637 N·m) of torque.
