"More power, a 12-volt electrical system, better brakes, and sealed beam headlamps made the 1967 model year Beetle better than ever. Completely stock, the Bug is begging to be upgraded and tricked out. Classic VW lines never get old and, when done right, this car will get you the attention you are looking for."
—Official description (Forza Horizon)[1]

The 1963 Volkswagen Beetle - abbreviated as VW Beetle - is a RWD supermini by Volkswagen featured in Forza Motorsport 4 as part of the June Meguiar's Car Pack and as standard in all subsequent main series titles except Forza Horizon 3.

Synopsis

The Volkswagen Beetle - officially known as Volkswagen Type 1 - is Volkswagen's first production car. Commissioned by the Nazi Germany government to chief designer Ferdinand Porsche in the 1930s, the Beetle was designed as an affordable mass-produced car[2] that could be used in the country's newly established Reichsautobahn road network.

Since production launch in 1938, the Beetle has enjoyed high sales around the world, thanks to its low price, practicality and unique advertisement campaigns. With many production plants established for this car around the world, the Beetle surpassed over 21 million produced units in 1992,[3] making it one of the most produced cars in the world. Production ended in 2003, when the last model rolled off the assembly line in Puebla, Mexico.

It appears in Forza with a 1.5 liter air-cooled flat-four engine producing 40 hp (30 kW) that is mated to a four-speed manual transmission. As the engine was designed for practicality rather than performance, it only reaches 83 mph (134 km/h) as top speed, making the Beetle lackluster for racing in stock form. Its low weight of 1760 lb (798 kg) and rear-engine, rear-wheel drive platform however provide an interesting base for high-class builds.
