"The Golf Gti 16v Mk2 is a staple in the realm of tuners and street racing. It’s light, agile, and is made for upgrades. The Mk2 picks up where the original Gti left off and takes it to the next level. In the world of water-cooled VW’s, driving a Mk2 Gti will get respect whether it’s a work in progress or best in show."—Official description[1]
The 1992 Volkswagen Golf Gti 16v Mk2 - abbreviated as "VW Golf '92" or "VW Golf GTi Mk2"[2] - is a front-wheel drive hot hatch by Volkswagen.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 2 and all subsequent main series titles except Forza Horizon 3.
Synopsis[]
The Mk2 Golf GTI 16V is the successor to the original Golf GTI that debuted for the 1986 model year to complement the eight-valve Mk2 GTI base model that was introduced earlier.
The 16V designation refers to the twin-cam 1.8 liter EA827 engine with 139 hp (104 kW), which made the GTI 16V the most powerful Mk2 Golf after the supercharged G60 model.
The Mk2 GTI ended production in 1992 and was replaced by the Mk3 GTI.
